Wendy Skillman was elected to the City Council for a four-year term in November 2012. She served as Vice Mayor in 2014 and as Mayor in 2015. She moved to Cotati in 2008 and was appointed the Community and Environment Commission (CEC) shortly thereafter. She served on the CEC for three and a half years, including terms as Secretary and Vice Chair. She was appointed to the Planning Commission in early 2012, where she served until her election to the City Council. Councilmember Skillman has spent over a decade working as prosecutor. Her first job out of law school was at the California District Attorneys Association as a part of their Environmental Prosecutor Project. Her subsequent work has ranged from environmental to criminal prosecutions. Her objective as a Councilmember is to utilize her knowledge and experience in finding common ground, and resolving issues in a way that serves all interests.
